TEAMS

Evaluations & Tryouts

Placements are determined through a comprehensive evaluation process. We look for technical skill, but prioritize energy, coachability, and the 'Rebel' mindset over raw talent alone.

Developmental (8U & 10U)

Focus is on joy in learning, multi-position development, skill repetition, and Game IQ. Positions are fluid (corners & middle rotation), with pitchers and catchers identified.

Team Selection

Selected players are placed in age-appropriate brackets (8U-18U) where they receive position-specific training. Our goal is to ensure every player is challenged while maximizing their fun.

Competitive 12U

Begin identifying long-term positional fit, considering body type and growth patterns. Honest conversations and increased competitive accountability begin.Primary positions are established, though secondary utility is maintained. Focus shifts to role clarity, increased intensity, and responsibility.

Roster Finalization

Once rosters are set, families commit to the NRG Rebels code of conduct. We focus on building a cohesive unit that competes with heart and represents our Phoenix community with pride.

Next Level (14U & 18U)

We hone in our goals for what the next level is. If it’s making the varsity team or competing at the highest level of softball. Everyone has a different goal and we want to help our players achieve their max potential.

Team Structures

Roster

Ages 7-12 Teams will carry 10-12 players. The roster will be constructed in a way to maximize playing time for all. Playing time does mean playing to win, as winning gives more opportunity for more repetitions. Ages 13-18 Roster size will depend on if we have pitchers only, that could move the roster number up to 14-15 players.

Classifications

Teams will be compete at the level of competition they are ready for. First year in age groups will compete as a C class team and push to move to B by the second year team. Teams that need to be challenged in A class are encouraged to do so, but understand that will come with more expenses for families due to low numbers of these class teams in the surrounding area.
